How can therapy help me?

Whether you’re dealing with overwhelming worries, navigating difficult relationships, feeling stuck in life’s challenges, seeking to change unhelpful patterns, or healing from distressing experiences, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Therapy can help you explore what past, present, and/or future experiences are impacting your functioning, thoughts, and emotions. It can also help you find ways to overcome these barriers to being the best version of yourself in a supportive and compassionate environment.


How do I know this will be a good fit for me?

We offer a free 15 minute consultation Meet & Greet session for you to explore if this feels like the right fit for you and your needs. The therapeutic relationship is very important for good therapy outcomes, so we understand the importance of finding just the right fit and sometimes people need to “shop” around for the right therapist.

Sessions

What happens on a Meet & Greet session?

This can be directed by you if that feels right. We will often share a bit about who we are, explore your hopes for therapy, answer any questions you have, and give you an opportunity to explore if we are the right fit for you.

What can I expect in my first therapy session?

Your first session is an opportunity to get to know each other better and explore what you are hoping for from counselling, how we can help you to reach your goals, or we can dive right into why you came to therapy in the first place. It’s up to you! We will always start the first session talking about informed consent and then we go from there at a pace that feels best for you.

How long are the sessions?

A standard session is 50 minutes face-to-face time and the other 10 minutes is case management time. This allows us time to do any prep for your session, your case note, or anything else necessary for you and your session so that we can best serve you.

How many sessions will I need?

Depending on the goals you have and the challenges you are navigating will influence how many sessions you might need. Some people will be in therapy regularly for a longer period, some may check-in infrequently, and some may feel like they have what they need after a few sessions.

Our goal is never to have people in therapy every week forever! We want you to feel a reduction in your symptoms, increased insight and sense of confidence in your life, gain skills and strategies, and have the opportunity to practice these in your world without us. Our hope is that every therapy session will provide valuable insight, resources, and tools to help you get closer to reaching your goals in life. And you are always welcome to come back when you need support.

Do you provide sessions in-person?

We offer both virtual and in-person sessions, depending on your preference and circumstances. We want you to be in a safe space while working through the ‘tough’ stuff.

Billing

What types of payment do you accept & what is your cancellation policy?

We accept credit card payments and e-transfers. We require at least 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment as this time slot has been set aside especially for you and we need enough time to be able to offer this to someone else if you cannot make the session. This policy may be waived in cases of emergency such as serious illness or accident. 

Do you bill insurers directly?

We are able to bill some insurance companies directly. Please check with your therapist about whether your insurance company is included. If paying directly, you will receive a detailed insurance receipt via email to submit yourself or for tax purposes.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer sliding scale sessions.

Can I contact you after hours?

You are free to contact us after hours; however, please as we are not a crisis service, you may not receive an immediate response. We strive to do our best to respond as quickly as possible but please give us 1-2 business days.
